Dos pichones con hambre. Una hembra atenta y vigilante.
En los pingüinos de Magallanes (Spheniscus magellanicus), la crianza de los pichones se basa en el cuidado biparental. Mientras el macho forrajea en el mar, la hembra permanece en el nido, brindando protección y termorregulación a los pichones.
Los pichones piden alimento de manera persistente, un comportamiento normal que estimula las respuestas de alimentación. En esta fase, sin embargo, el rol de la hembra es resguardar el nido y asegurar la supervivencia de los pichones hasta que el macho regrese con el alimento.
En los sistemas naturales, el éxito reproductivo depende de la coordinación, la diferenciación de roles y la cooperación.

In Magellanic penguins (Spheniscus magellanicus), chick rearing is based on biparental care. While the male forages at sea, the female remains at the nest, providing protection and thermoregulation to the chicks.
The chicks beg persistently, a normal behavior that stimulates feeding responses. In this phase, however, the female’s role is to guard the nest and ensure the chicks’ safety until the male returns with food.
In natural systems, reproductive success depends on coordination, role differentiation, and cooperation.
