Aphasia SA (previously known as Talkback Association for Aphasia Inc) is run by volunteers to support South Australians with a language impairment called aphasia. Aphasia SA (previously Talkback Association for Aphasia Inc) is a volunteer-run association in South Australia that provides support for people with aphasia, their families, and carers. The association was specifically designed for peopl

e with aphasia, with the involvement of people with aphasia, their families and carers, and speech pathologists. • Provide information and support.
• Raise public and professional awareness of aphasia.
• Promote social opportunities and conversation through Talkback Groups and regular social events.
• Help develop social and self-help groups and programs.
• Develop advocacy skills.
• Support people with aphasia to develop confidence in their communication, and take control over their own lives. Aphasia SA

APHASIA ACCESSIBILITY & READABILITY GUIDELINES 📄

Aphasia SA is very excited to share our new guidelines for making written information more accessible and readable for people with aphasia.

We hope the guidelines are helpful for health professionals, organisations, community groups, and anyone wanting to make their communication more aphasia-friendly.

By making small changes to the way information is presented, we can help ensure communication is more inclusive and accessible for everyone.

A big thank you to University of Adelaide Speech Pathology students who created these guidelines for us as part of an Industry Honours project.

The guidelines can also be found under the Resources tab on our website: https://www.aphasia.asn.au/resources

On Friday 15th May, the Flinders University Speech Pathology and Audiology Association (FUSPAA) held a Quiz Night fundraiser, bringing together students, staff, family, and friends for a fun evening of trivia and community connection.

Our Aphasia SA committee member, Kat Fusco, shared about Aphasia SA and thanked FUSPAA for choosing to support Aphasia SA for the third year in a row.

We are incredibly grateful and thrilled to have received a generous donation of $2,000. Thank you to everyone involved for your ongoing support and generosity!

Researchers from LaTrobe University want to hear from people with aphasia!

They want to know about how people with aphasia use technology and artificial intelligence (AI) in everyday life.

It's OK if you know a lot about AI or not much.

If you are interested, contact Matthew using the details on the flyer 😊
