Okay Gateway gang- let’s do what we do best- support & wrap our arms around one of our own.

One of the blokes who has been part of the fabric of this town for years. The sort of larger-than-life character who could always be counted on for a yarn, a laugh, a beer and a good time. If you’ve spent any time around the Gateway over the years, chances are you’ve got a Dozer story.

Right now, Dozer is facing the toughest chapter of his life.

A GoFundMe has been set up to help ease the financial burden of his palliative care, and to give him the chance to celebrate one last wake with the mates who have meant so much to him before helping cover his funeral expenses.

If you’re in a position to chip in—whether it’s $5, $50 or simply sharing the fundraiser—it would mean the world.

This is what our Gateway family has always done best. We celebrate together, we laugh together… and when one of our own needs us, we show up.

Let’s wrap our arms around Dozer and remind him just how loved he is.

Yesterday wasn’t just about celebrating two birthday legends…
It was about us...

🍻 “You really got me…” 🍻

As a Gateway family… you really have got each other. And I know how grateful I am for that. I’m sure each of you feel the same.

Through birthdays and celebrations. Through hospital stays, (Bloody hell Bully….) worries and life’s tougher moments. Through the everyday catch-ups, the random phone calls, and those times when someone simply needs their people. This little community has always had a way of showing up.

That’s what these Revival days have become.

One afternoon where we all know we can walk into the pub, look around and see those familiar faces that helped shape such a big part of our lives. Faces that remind us of where we came from, the stories we’ve shared and the friendships that time and distance could never undo.

Another one of my favourite parts is seeing new faces walk through the door too. People who weren’t part of the Gateway gang all those years ago, yet are welcomed in like they’ve always belonged. Before long, they’re making their own Gateway memories, sharing in the laughs, and becoming part of this ever-growing family.

Watching Bully and Deano’s smiles grow a little bigger with every person who walked through the door yesterday was exactly why we keep doing this.

We’re incredibly lucky.

Lucky to have found each other all those years ago.
Lucky that life has brought new people into our circle.
And lucky to have these afternoons where, for a few hours, it feels like coming home.

Because at the end of the day… you really got me, have got each other and I promise to keep hustling for each event so that magic keeps happening.

Thank you for showing up. Thank you for bringing the laughs, the stories, the hugs and the heart. Most of all, thank you for creating the magic with us.

Here’s to many more Revival afternoons together. ❤️

Well… what a day….

Our two birthday boys had an absolute ball!

There was no shortage of hugs, laughs, stories, singing, cupcakes and plenty of love shared around the public bar. Exactly what these catch-ups are all about.

A huge thank you to every single person who came along to celebrate these two legends. Whether you travelled, stayed for an hour or all afternoon, you helped make their day one they’ll be talking about for weeks. Seeing their faces as more and more familiar faces walked through the door was worth every bit of planning.

Three cheers to all of you for making their day!

Happy Birthday, Deano and Bully! 64 and 69 have never looked so darn good.
(Although, Bull… enjoy 69 while it lasts, because next year we’re launching the Festival of 70… and I have a feeling you should start preparing yourself now!)

The “Birthday Baddie” headquarters is officially ready!

Bully and Deano’s table is decorated, the birthday bunting is up, and all we need now… is YOU. (And the bags are packed ready with birthday cupcakes and the boys birthday baddie outfits… ❤️

See everyone, and I mean EVERYONE- at 12pm. Let’s fill the pub, fill our boys’ cups, and remind them why these Revival catch-ups have become so bloody special.

Righto Gateway family… the countdown is officially ON!

Just a couple more days of pretending to work, answering emails, attending meetings and generally behaving like responsible adults… then it’s SATURDAY!

And you know what that means…
Another Reef Gateway Revival and a chance to shower our birthday boys, Bully and Deano, with all the love, laughs, beers and completely reasonable levels of public attention they deserve.

The birthday sunnies and hats are ready.�The birthday song vocal chords are warmed up.�The hugs, stories, catch-ups and terrible old pub tales are definitely ready.

So get through the rest of the work week, make the calls, round up your old Gateway mates and get yourselves to the Public Bar.
Because if previous birthday editions have taught us anything, it’s that this crew knows how to turn a simple catch-up into an absolute cracker of an afternoon.

🎉 Happy Birthday to one of the absolute best blokes we know…our very own Bully! 🎉

Today is officially the day our favourite gentleman turns 69.

If you’ve ever shared a beer, a laugh, a story, a problem, or a seat at his table outside with Bully, you’ll know exactly why so many people think the world of him. He’s one of the genuine good ones. The kind of bloke who makes the world a better place just by being in it.

We’re incredibly lucky to call him our friend.
The good news is that on Saturday, we’ll get the chance to show him just how much he’s loved when the Gateway family rolls in to celebrate him the way he deserves.

So if you’re coming along, bring your hugs, your stories, your beers and your best birthday wishes. Let’s make sure our favourite gentleman knows just how much he means to all of us.

One week from today we’ll be back at the Gateway celebrating a couple of our favourite blokes turning another year wiser… or at least another year older.

The birthday decorations have arrived, the beers will be cold, and Bully and Deano are getting ready for the annual reminder that they’re both absolute legends.

So start making the calls, send the texts and round up the old pub family.
