From the old days on the footy field to the team we’re cheering on today… 🤎💛
For this weeks Throwback Thursday post at the Augusta Hotel, we’re taking a trip down memory lane with some classic photos of the Augusta Abalones that we have proudly hanging up in our public bar/TAB — remembering the players, the big wins, the tough games and all the moments that have made the Abalones such a special part of our little community.
And what better time to do a throwback post for the abs, than right before the boys head into the semi finals on Saturday!
There’s nothing quite like local footy — generations of players, families and supporters coming together, proudly pulling on the Abalones colours and representing our town.
To everyone who has ever pulled on the jumper, run through the banner, cheered from the sidelines or shared a few stories after the game, this one’s for you!
And as we look back through these old photos, we also remember the players who are sadly no longer with us.
Their faces may now be captured in old photographs and their stories carried on by those who knew and loved them, but their place in the Abalones family and Augusta community will never be forgotten! Once an Ab, always an Ab!
