Ashes 2 Green on the 22nd August,
is a family-friendly, one-day event bringing together people from across the Nambucca Valley who have been affected by the 2019 bushfires and the 2021 floods.
“The gathering will give people of the Nambucca Valley/surrounds a chance to come together to share in the healing of country and community after experiencing the devastating bushfires, followed by the floods,” Caitlin told .
“After experiencing such horrific losses, it is so important to feel supported by our community and to have hope for the future.
“Ashes 2 Green will be a nourishing day of cultural connection, story sharing, bush walks, tree planting, laughs (possibly tears), good food and slowing down, finding hope together in nature.”
The Kian Rd fire burnt through the southern half of the Nambucca Valley, burning 20% of the Council shire area and is the worst natural disaster on record in this area.
“Our communities suffered from the loss of natural habitat, the native forests which we have created our homes around and the immense loss of native wildlife.
“We know that people in our community are still hurting, from witnessing the devastation themselves and bearing the impact on family functioning,” Caitlin said.
“After recent rains, we are currently witnessing the transformative power of healing through nature, as we are starting to see bursts of green, energy and light emerging.”
Caitlin says the time is right to bring people together to remember, reflect and heal.
Ashes 2 Green is a collaboration between the , , & , funded through the Bushfire Recovery initiative by .

We are proud to be a Designated Land for Wildlife property which gives credit to our extensive local rainforest and garden plantings native eucalyptus gullies and waterfalls. Creating corridors for the diverse species of fauna, birds, wallabies and other native animals that either live here all year round or visit us on a seasonal basis.
At SOTR it is easy to tune into the slow rhythm of the Australian bush, take in the intimate sounds of nature and disconnect from everyday distractions like WIFI/TV. SOTR is the perfect environment for couples and solo adventurers who wish to recharge, reconnect and reinvigorate new energy with each other and yourself in nature.
There are several walking trails leading to observation photography spots overlooking waterlily clad dams, valley vistas and views scattered around the property where you can bird and wallaby watch, pat a horse or feed the cows. Bring your own bikes to enjoy miles of picturesque open country roads and or run the same tracks til your hearts content.
We are lucky to have magnificent National Parks in our local area such as Dungirr (Koala), Gumbaynggirr and Yariabini which home incredible old growth rainforest and vulnerable species like koala, yellow bellied gliders, spotted quoll and many more.
World Heritage Dorrigo National park is 1 hour drive away and is perfect for a day trip. SOTR is located only 35 minutes from our pristine coastlines showcasing insatiable surfing spots and secluded beaches and National Marine Parks like Solitary Islands and South West Rocks (both excellent scuba diving) and Scotts Head. One of the beauties of staying at SOTR is the ability to chill out at the farm, spend the day wandering around our nearby sub-tropical rainforests or go surfing at our favourite beaches (or do all 3!). SOTR is a great base to explore the area or to take it as easy as you desire.
