Most of the Hawkesbury oyster 'fattening beds' are located in the shallow bays & inlets some 10km upriver from the mainland work sheds at Mooney Mooney.

The oyster beds are underwater, covered by the high tide for parts of the day, but become exposed as the tide falls.

Shallow draft barges - 'punts' - are used to reach the oyster bed shallows, on the low tide.

Enjoy the freshest local oysters right by the waters edge at Hawkesbury River Oyster Shed Mooney Mooney.
We also recommend tasting the day's produce from the onsite smoker.
