Skyhome - Canberra City Short-stay

Skyhome - Canberra City Short-stay My stylish city sanctuary for work or holiday in iconic Nishi New Acton Peaceful, private, panoramic I have a loving family and a sweet life :)

Skyhome is my 'lonely writer's garrett' but with great comfort and facilities, serenity, superb scenery and splendid sunsets. Most of the time, it's available to guests, staying for two nights or up to 2 months at a time. I live nearby and stay at Skyhome sometimes when I need quiet time away from my family home, and the call of my large romantic garden. Our garden is called The Heart Garden, and nearly three hundred couples have married there, with me as their marriage celebrant.

Just a short stroll from Skyhome - what a pleasant elegant way to spend a special evening!

Canberra Museum + Gallery (CMAG) is proud to present Resonant Spaces, a solo piano concert series hosted inside the gallery at CMAG. Featuring ARIA Award–winning artists David Bridie and Sophie Hutchings, these concerts offer a rare opportunity to experience live music and visual art together, as each artist responds to the works of Sidney Nolan. Their contemporary musical interpretations reflect Nolan’s themes of landscape, myth, and identity in distinct and compelling ways.

Each performance will be followed by a discussion with curator Ross Heathcote and the featured artist, providing insights into their creative approaches and the interplay between visual art and music.

The CMAG bar and Nolan Gallery will be open prior to each concert, and discounted pricing is available when patrons book for both concerts

Scrolling through photo files again, and found this image from late March last year. The view from Skyhome balcony at 7pm. (Autumn in Oz) Taking photos of splendid sunsets like this one is irresistible for me, and my guests tell me that they like to do it too.

Found this image when scrolling through my Photos from last year. Thought I'd like to share it.

DISCOVERING ANCIENT EGYPT
I haven't been to this exhibition yet. But I'll definitely go. It's open until September 8.
Skyhome is the perfect place to stay. The new promenade beside Lake Burley Griffin doesn't quite stretch to the Museum yet but you could easily walk there in less than 10 minutes.

There are usually plenty of e-scooters (with helmets) for hire in the New Acton precinct (that Nishi's in). My husband and I hired scooters one morning after staying at Skyhome for the night and rode around to the Museum's excellent bistro for brunch. Loved it so much, I have since bought my own electric scooter so I can travel faster along the many paths available.

Paths branch out in several directions from Skyhome. (To the city, to the Visitors' Centre at Regatta Point, to the National Gallery and National Library, to ANU, to Commonwealth Gardens for Floriade, etc etc etc) These paths are mostly flat. They're fun to ride on, and also lovely for an evening stroll - especially from Nishi around to Commonwealth Avenue bridge and back.

Explore the history and culture of ancient Egypt in this must-see exhibition at the National Museum of Australia in Canberra until 8 September 2024.National Museum of Antiquities that presents more than 200 fascinating objects spanning over 3,000 years of civilisation.

There's a beautiful glass woven basket by my friend Peter Crisp, gracing a shelf in the bedroom of Skyhome. My apartment is in the iconic Nishi building that features in New Acton Cultural and Cinema Precinct in Canberra City. Just like in the rest of New Acton, my apartment Skyhome, has several original pieces which harmonise with the ethos of this unique precinct. I think 'retro chic' is one predominant style - like the style of my refridgerator! 'Industrial' is another style you'll notice in many parts of New Acton. Staying in Skyhome in Nishi in New Acton is like living for a while in an extensive artwork :)
