The NSW State Government is recommending the merger of Cabonne Council (a rural shire) with Orange City. ANTY is the name adopted by the group of like-minded people who are coordinating the anti-amalgamation efforts within the Cabonne community. The merger business case report was formally presented to Council on 26 May 2015. Council has voted to oppose the amalgamation and will lodge its submissi

ons with IPART by 30 June 2015. IPART will post information on its website and will accept public submissions on council proposals until 31 July 2015. IPART may seek further information or meet with certain councils to clarify aspects of their proposals. IPART will provide its recommendations to the Government by 16 October 2015. Council merges to be completed by Local Government elections in September 2016.
