Junktion - the art of reuse

Junktion aims to collect local industry off-cuts and seconds left over by the manufacturing process that would normally be sent to recycling or landfill. Junktion, a not-for-profit collection service then sells these high-quality reusable materials to the community at very low cost via a retail depot. Educ

ation programs including hands-on workshops and tours will be routinely conducted and made available to all schools. Our aim is to encourage the community to learn the difference between REDUCE, REUSE and RECYCLING, to be inspired to create imaginative things, to connect with like-minded business and groups and to encourage all forms of community awareness to waste management. A space will be available for artists and makers to showcase their works made from materials sourced at Junktion. There will be opportunity for those goods to be sold on commission base from the Junktion depot. Businesses donate the materials via a free pick-up service. Collection is from large, medium and small business of Melbourne, focusing on the local inner-west [Maribyrnong and surrounds]. Our aim is to expand the range to reach Hobsons Bay, Wyndham, Melbourne, Port Phillip in 2012.
