A little bit about where Pademelon Cottage comes from. 🤎
Gowrie Park has a pretty remarkable history.
Back in the 1960s, this quiet little place beneath Mount Roland was a busy hydro village. Hundreds of homes were built here, along with a school, hospital, shops, a bank, church and community hall. At one point around 2000 people were living and working here.
When the hydro works moved on, much of the village went with it.
But there are still traces everywhere. The roads that wander their way to nowhere. Old buildings. Stories passed down. Daffodils that come up each spring where homes once stood. And of course Mount Roland, which has been sitting above all of it the whole time. Majestic she is.
Pademelon Cottage is part of this next little chapter of Gowrie Park.
A lovely, comfortable cottage with timber floors, a fire to light, a table to sit around and pademelons wandering about outside if you’re lucky.
We’ve given her a little love lately and she’s ready for guests again.
Welcome back Pademelon. 🤎
