Important update from Tennis NSW

🔊 Covid-19 Update - Greater Sydney, Blue Mountains, Central Coast, Wollongong & Shellharbour.

While over the weekend, restrictions in Greater Sydney were applied to residents of Canterbury Bankstown, Liverpool and Fairfield LGA’s, nothing changed significantly for us in tennis and community sport and the current restrictions continue to still apply.

The advice in relation to mask wearing for tennis participants, administrators and coaches is as follows;

👉 You must wear a mask if you deal directly with a member of the public e.g. Coaches / Pro-Shop staff / Officials.
👉 You must wear a mask in the following environments:
👉 Indoor recreation facilities (unless it is strenuous exercise)
👉 Major recreation facilities e.g. Stadiums, Showgrounds, Workplaces e.g. offices, Pro-Shops

Under the current Public Health Order, undertaking exercise and outdoor recreation activities remains a reasonable excuse to leave your home. As of 5pm, Friday 9 July:

👉 Outdoor public gatherings (including exercise) will be limited to two people (excluding members of the same household);
👉 People must stay in their Local Government Area or within 10km of home for exercise and outdoor recreation, with no carpooling between non-household members;
👉 NSW Health advice is that no formal competitions or training sessions are to take place and no community sport (whether training or a match) in Greater Sydney including the Blue Mountains, Central Coast, Wollongong and Shellharbour should proceed.

Therefore the recommendation from Tennis NSW in regards to community participation in Greater Sydney is as follows:
🎾 Singles play is permitted;
🎾 Private coaching is permitted (this is subject to two people gathering plus a coach). Coaching is permitted as a reasonable excuse to leave home for the purposes of work.

There have been questions around what is an isn't ok in terms of tennis during the lockdown period. Have a read of this from Tennis NSW which helps shed light on these questions.

You must adhere to the Public Health Orders at all times.

Stay safe and well especially for our friends in the local Canterbury-Bankstown LGA.

⚠️STAY AT HOME ORDER – ADDITIONAL RESTRICTIONS⚠️

Given the growing number of infectious cases in the community and unlinked cases of community transmission, COVID-19 restrictions will be tightened across Greater Sydney including the Central Coast, Blue Mountains, Wollongong and Shellharbour.

From 5pm today (Friday, 9 July) the following additional restrictions will be in place:
- Outdoor public gatherings limited to two people (excluding members of the same household);
- People must stay in their Local Government Area or within 10kms of home for exercise and outdoor recreation, with no carpooling between non-household members;
- Browsing in shops is prohibited, plus only one person per household, per day may leave the home for shopping;
- Funerals limited to ten people in total (this will take effect from Sunday, 11 July);

The four reasons to leave your home remain in place:
- Shopping for food or other essential goods and services (one person only);
- Medical care or compassionate needs (only one visitor can enter another residence to fulfil carers’ responsibilities or provide care or assistance, or for compassionate reasons);
- Exercise with no more than 2 (unless members of the same household);
- Essential work, or education, where you cannot work or study from home.

Restrictions in regional NSW will remain unchanged.

These tightened restrictions are based on health advice from the Chief Health Officer Dr Kerry Chant.

They are necessary due to the increasing number of unlinked cases in the community.

We understand this is a difficult time for the community and businesses. We thank them for their understanding and patience.

High testing numbers are key to finding unrecognised chains of transmission in the community, so please continue to come forward for a COVID-19 test, even if you have the mildest of symptoms.
