The Green Rosella (Platycercus caledonicus) is a bird endemic to Tasmania.
This brightly coloured bird is a common sight at Bruny Island Coastal Retreats. It is Australia's largest rosella and grows up to 36cm in length. The Green Rosella's diet consists mainly of seeds, but also eats fruits, berries, nectar and insects. They feed on the ground and in trees. When breeding the bird nests in tree hollows. The Green Rosella is not an endangered species.

‘BrunyIsland.au’ is passionate about the preservation and celebration of the Island’s extraordinary beauty and rich cultural landscape.
