Council would also like to acknowledge the significant efforts of the organisers, volunteers, members of the community and businesses who make this great event possible. Mareeba has a reputation as a location of choice for major events, including the FNQ Rotary Field Days and Mareeba Rodeo, and Savannah in the Round is further evidence of this.

Prehistoric party on the beach for World Cassowary Day! 🌴☀️

There aren’t many places you can spot the elusive Southern Cassowary as you stroll along the beach, but Tropical North Queensland is one of them! And if there’s one place that a wannabe cassowary spotter should go, it’s Etty Bay 🙌 🏝

Did you know that there are approximately 700 plant species endemic to the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area? And almost 100 species that heavily depend on the cassowary to distribute their seeds 🌴😲
