Mark Douglass is a well-known Australian artist, interior designer and entrepreneur with more than 20 years experience within the fine art and design industry. Awarded 2012 Churchill Trust Fellowship, this prestigious award recognises Mark's impressive body of work as a master glass artist, as well as the contribution he has made over more than 20 years to the Australian glass art industry. as been responsible for the design of many projects in Australia and most recently in Macau and Mainland China where Mark has been commissioned to design a range of feature glass installations for Crown Casino Macau, Galaxy Casino Macau, Grand Park Hyatt, Crowne Plaza Guangzhou, Westin Hotel Xiamen, Sheraton Hotels and MGM Casino Macau.

Designing a pendant begins with the colour composition which tones sit next to each other, how they graduate across the fitting, whether they contrast or blend.

Colour in glass is achieved by introducing metallic oxides during the melt.
Cobalt creates blues. Manganese produces purples and ambers. Iron shifts towards greens and greys.

The four tones you see here sky blue, sage, grey and plum each come from a distinct mineral compound.
