No blown donk, just the new bird checking wind direction for a Thistle tidy up this week.

A few starting to book in Time-rite spraying with the clover still very slow on the move. A real concern with the favourable conditions for Red-Legged earth mite.
With Lemat getting hard to come by, a few Ag chem retailers have been able to secure some 110lt enviros.
A bit much for the average block but if you are interested in time-rite this year let us know. We will look to co-ordinate chemical and on charge only what you need.

Applications starting from $6/ha (plus chemical) are proving to be a considerably cheaper alternative to dragging hay from 500kms away.

Been a bit of this lately trying to find our way down to the strips.

Red Legs seem to have really been stirred up in Thursdays rain.
Plenty of reports of lots of mite around but very small. Quite a few seemed to go back to ground a week or two ago but back up now. Been quite consistent comments throughout the region.

We will be west of Frances and the Apsley/Edenhope area chasing them early this coming week.

Also putting out quite a bit of Progibb (with or without N) around the place trying to spark a bit of growth in the grass portion of the pastures. Going to be a long few weeks waiting for warmth by the looks.
Heading to the Coleraine area early this week for that also.

A vastly different break of the season to the ‘23 run has seen our new addition tucked away in the hangar for awhile. With a few tweaks we are super happy to have VH XR8 out and about doing what it does best.
For the aviation inclined enthusiasts it is the same 510 gallon Thrush airframe we’ve always operated, but powered with a 750 SHP Pratt and Whitney turbine. For those that have visited us while working will notice one very big difference to the Garrett’s we also have, significantly quieter!

The unusual break had us very much on edge for the arrival of Red Legged Earth mite. While they have arrived considerably later than I predicted, they have most definitely arrived!
Keep an eye on your clovers and canolas (and even cereals I’m hearing) as these frost affected crops are really going to struggle to out grow them at the moment.

Currently finding plenty north of Naracoorte and with big hatchings towards the coast we’ll expect to see them everywhere shortly.

Will endeavour to keep a more updated itinerary of what areas we’ll be working in.

Considerably more intelligent and definitely more mature than these seats usual occupants. Nearly old enough to wash the windows and fuel up the birds for the coming spray season!

Worth keeping an eye on any early sown Canola. We have been out to most areas already chasing slugs. Late finish/mild summer/early rains all fair well for the hungry little buggers. Unfortunately expensive re-sows are becoming more frequent. Chasing the seeder with a bait seems to be the cheapest insurance 👍 ✈️

Amazing technology that gives us the knowledge to configure the planes correctly for optimum efficacy of all types of product requirements.

Dodgin’ frost fans and curlin’ up caterpillars 🐛

This mild weather is providing better conditions for the critters than the grape harvesters unfortunately. Fingers crossed for a bit of warmth so they can get a few grapes in the bin soon. 🍇 🍷

Millicent Airport looking neat as a pin at the moment.
Bit of a break in feeding crickets for a day or two, off to the Coonawarra and Padthaway vines next to keep a few crawllies out of the 2023 Vintage.

Awesome having the second turbine up and about after a 4 month spell with maintenance.
No easing into it for the ol’ girl, a quick check flight this morning and off to feed some crickets around Furner for the day.
