Nelly & Woods Collective Stays

Nelly & Woods Collective Stays Where Design Meets Sustainability for Thoughtful Escapes The slow mornings, the golden afternoons, the little moments that turn into cherished memories.

We’re Esther and Joost, the duo behind Nelly & Woods Collective Stays, along with our toddler, Liam, and our four-legged adventurer, Hunter. Our journey to the Sunshine Coast hinterland has been anything but ordinary, shaped by a love of travel, hospitality, and a deep appreciation for unique spaces. Esther has lived all over the world, always drawn to the magic of exploring new places and the sto

ries they hold. Joost, originally from the Netherlands, has spent most of his life in hospitality, creating experiences that bring people together. After years in London and Brisbane, we felt the pull of a slower, more intentional way of living, and in 2021, we made the hinterland our home. For as long as we can remember, we’ve loved staying in places that feel special—where the surroundings, design, and little details come together to create something truly memorable. Nelly & Woods Collective Stays was born from this passion: a place where slow stays meet thoughtful design, and where every element has been considered to make your experience feel effortless and inspiring. More than just a place to stay, Nelly & Woods Collective Stays is about the feeling you take with you when you leave. Sustainability and interior design are at the heart of what we do. We believe that beautiful spaces should also be kind to the earth, which is why we weave eco-conscious choices into every aspect of our accommodation. From locally sourced pieces to timeless materials, every detail has a purpose—to make you feel at home while treading lightly on the planet. We hope you love it too, and we can't wait to host you! ♡

The stays people actually remember don’t come from ticking boxes. They come from the things you can’t reduce to an amenity list.

At our Airbnb in Tassie, Tiers Rest, it’s the horses by the fence in the morning, the bunnies moving through the property at dusk, homemade muffins waiting on arrival, and small details that don’t fit neatly into a booking description but somehow become the reason guests talk about their stay long after they left.

At Nelly & Woods we focus on creating feelings instead of ticking off amenities in a list.

The stays people actually remember don’t come from ticking boxes. They come from the things you can’t really reduce to an amenity list.

At Tiers Rest, it’s the horses by the fence in the morning, the bunnies moving through the property at dusk, homemade muffins waiting on arrival, and small details that don’t fit neatly into a booking description but somehow end up being what guests talk about long after they leave.

Maybe the difference isn’t in what’s provided.
Maybe it’s in what’s felt.

The reality of hosting that not a lot of people are exposed to!

Also the guests checking in at Nelly and Into The Woods are beautiful people, been so lovely and understanding! Makes a world of difference I tell you!

I entered a year-long relationship with paint. 🤌🏻

Every time I uncovered another problem, dated cabinets, furniture that almost worked but not quite, I’d stare directly at the chaos and think:
“I can fix this.”

Not with logic.
Not with restraint.
With paint.

One wall became an entire hand-painted mural.
A brand new bed somehow still needed repainting because the colour was off.
Kitchen cabinets? Painted.
Antique furniture? Painted. (I know sue me.)

At some point the renovation stopped being about creating the perfect Airbnb.

It became about learning how attached we become to making things beautiful with our own hands.
Even when it’s slower.
Even when it makes absolutely no sense.
Even when replacing it would’ve been easier.

And honestly?
I think every brushstroke became part of the story this place now holds.

So if you ever walk into our Airbnb and think,
“Wow, there’s so much character in here…”

Just know most of that character came from a whole lot of paint. 🎨

Somewhere along the way, weekends away became another thing to optimise.

Dinner reservations. Packed itineraries. Trying to make the most of every second.

But the stays you remember most are usually slower than that.

They’re mornings with nowhere to be. Afternoon walks that turn into sunset. Conversations that stretch late because nobody’s checking the time. Hours where you haven’t checked your phone.

At Nelly & Woods Collective Stays, we’ve always believed the quiet moments are the ones that stay with you longest. 💛

It’s pretty special ❄️

The off season is ON and honestly Tassie’s best kept secret. Snow capped mountains. The sites without the crowds. Cozy nights in by the fireplace.
