Lions Club of Rockhampton - Fitzroy River The Fitzroy River Lions Club is a busy and vibrant community service Club. 100% of all funds raised go back to support the community.

Club members meet twice a month on the first and third Wednesday, 6pm for a 6.30 start at the Allenstown Hotel. Our Club has a “Dinner meeting" where we cover general business and plan upcoming community pro

jects, we break for our evening meal, finishing by 8.30pm. The membership is made up of a diverse group of people and one of the larger Clubs in the Region. Whilst these meetings help the club members to know what is happening, involvement in the activities is the main goal. All 100% of community projects and activities funds raised to back to help the community. To continue to provide this service around the region, we look to the community to join us in our ventures, seeking new members who will enjoy giving back to those in need. In all our busy lives, our ethos is Family first, work second, then Lions – always supporting each other in our goal to support the community. Our wonderful Lions Volunteers attended Westwood State School on 22nd July to perform Vision Eye Screening. The accredited screeners are always welcomed by the Principlals and students at these participating schools. Conducting Vision Screening Sessions with the students and reporting the results back to the schools, helps raise awareness of vision problems in children and resources available now the vision problems have been identified. Thanks to Principal Pauline Dunne, students and Lions screeners for their time.

SOMEONE IS WAITING

Somewhere in Rockhampton this morning, someone is waiting for a knock on the door.

Not just for a meal, but for a friendly face and a few minutes of conversation.

For many of our clients, the visit from a Meals on Wheels volunteer is the highlight of their day.

That simple act of kindness helps them stay independent, connected, and cared for.

Our volunteers often tell us they receive far more than they give.

They gain friendships, purpose, connection to the community, and of course we all start the morning together with a relaxed morning tea and a chat before heading out.

If you have a little spare time and a big heart, we would love to welcome you.
