Bird watch as you explore the bush track winding along the water. It’s beautiful and picturesque always, with sunrises and sunsets truly stunning. Fishing, kyaking, paddle boarding or other water based fun activities are right by your door. Perfect for nature lovers and those wishing to have a relaxed holiday enjoying the beauty of nature.
About The Driftwood Shack:
Owned by local writer and healer as a place to relax and be creative, The Driftwood Shack was originally one of the old seventies style fishing shacks on stilts, built in amongst the trees.
It has been made into a bi - level dwelling combining original features with some modern. A Uniquely styled decore that reflects a love of the ocean and relaxed coastal living. It’s simple, rustic and welcoming, with the upstairs unit being offered as holiday accomodation.
Close to shops, cafes, restaurants and entertainment, on a leafy quite street that runs along the water.
Ten minutes drive from Huskisson, Booderee National Park, Jervis Bay, and some of the most stunning beaches on the coast of Australia, being labelled by Guinness book of records as having the whitest sand in the Southern Hemisphere.
About the local area:
Called the jewel of the south coast for its pristine aqua waters and white sandy tree lined beaches the area offers an abundance of scenic bush Walks, beach walks, dolphin and whale watching tours, snorkeling, diving, boating, a historic ruined lighthouse which is a good place to see migrating whales, Caves beach and Aussie Pipe surf spots and an abundance of native wild life. You will likely see dolphins all year round, whales and their young during migration, seals on the rocks sometimes and Kangaroos are all around and pretty tame.
Entertainment, cafes and activities:
Enjoy the relaxed coastal vibe, with local venues offering live music and entertainment. Visit a choice of local restaurants, cafes, offering fresh healthy foods, international cuisine; Thai, Indian, vegetarian cafes. There is a quaint old movie theatre, cocktail bars, specialty shops, the “husky pub” serving al la carte, looking out over the ocean. Home to many artist and performers this area has a wonderful creative community and culture.
During school holidays give the kids a unique and interesting experience of the local aboriginal culture with Dreamtime stories by the camp fire, told by local aboriginal people and bush tucker walks through booderee National Park
The Accommodation:
The upstairs unit consists of 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, fully equipped kitchen, living area, covered veranda looking out into lush gardens. With big windows and a wood fire.
One bedroom has a queen bed. The other room has a double bed underneath with a single bed on top, fitting 4-5 guests. This is a strictly non-smoking premises. The down stairs unit will be used or rented out at times and can also offer high quality remedial massage and heath treatments (when available) so you can truly relax, unwind and be revitalised. Guest are offered a 10% discount on any treatments. These need to be booked in advance and are subject to availability.
There may sometimes be a quite old dog in the downstairs premises. This is completely different area to guest accomodation. No guest pets are permitted.
The Driftwood Shack offers a wonderful relaxed holiday destination for couples or families in a peaceful location with so much to explore and enjoy.
