Wonderful opportunity to learn how to take these amazing photos.

At Hat Head National Park, I discovered a secluded cove nestled between sheer cliffs and the mountainous landscape. The rock shelves’ sharp geometry framed the cove’s flowing waters, pulling me in to shoot. Roaring waves echoed, their rhythm soothing as I captured this hidden gem.

It’s whale watching season at Catherine Hill Bay!

Watch out for whales from the headland (just a short walk up the street from Eastport Beach Retreat), or join a boat tour from Lake Macquarie.

Either way the experience of seeing a 🐳 is unforgettable.

And afterwards why not watch the sun go down over Lake Macquarie or head over to Caves Beach Coastal Bar for a memorable dinner overlooking the beach.

At Eastport Beach Retreat all our bedrooms have names that reflect their individual "looks" or themes.

There's the Lighthouse Bunkroom with it's nautical blue and white theme, inspired by our visit to Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard a few years ago. It has a single bed with single bunks and is a firm favourite with kids - both big and small!

Whereas our Whale Room has a more serene, soft aqua coastal vibe. With a king single, single and trundle, it's a great bedroom for chilling out.

Both bedrooms are light and bright with cosy quilts, mattress toppers and premium linen.

Eastport Beach Retreat is available for short-term rental and holidays.
