You wake each morning smiling about life! A perfect deck to meet the morning sun as it rises, to meditate, or just to make merry. MORE ABOUT SHERWOOD LOVES:
Sherwood Loves - an estate surrounded by nature - has kept much of the original sandstone work, but added an industrial feel to the rustic, with the fusion of ‘The Homestead’ with two new, cathedral ceiling buildings - ‘The Pavilion’ and ‘The Stable’. So much beautiful detailing in the architecture.
Sherwood Loves is situated on Sally Peak; it has its own road coming into the property. When driving in and out of Sherwood Loves we often see wallabies, possums and rabbits scuttling, parrots and eagles greeting us... once we saw a stag jump over the fence! The drive in and out sometimes feel like a scene from Bambi... so if you do come to stay, drive slowly and carefully - we do love our wildlife.
The views will literally and metaphorically take your breath away! You wake up each morning smiling about life! A perfect deck to meet the morning sun as it rises (we have yoga mats and blocks), to meditate (we also have meditation seats and blankets), to contemplate or just to make merry!
Sherwood Loves is a wonderful place for chilling and connecting, or for that peaceful romantic getaway that gives you isolation from the harried life, or having a small party of friends to connect with in a social getaway...we’ve built fun outside spaces – a rock garden, a walking labyrinth (that sparkles at night!), stepping stone pathways so you can go shoe free, some grounding firepit areas, and meaningful handpicked sculptures and love seats scattered, some in secret places.
Within the buildings, we love art and design, and decades of collecting eclectic pieces that are now curated in every room, nook and corner. And so, Sherwood Loves is filled with tasteful splashes of colour and eclectic, high end furniture and furnishings for one to enjoy! We have dedicated some rooms to our favourite artists and have their works in them. And there are lots of playful quirks too – there is almost a story in everything because it’s all personal; it’s our home after all *smile*.
Sherwood Loves looks out across the valley of the 'Brushy Plains Rivulet'; a spectacular high up 270-degree mesmerizing view! Nine days was all it took us from seeing the realtor advert in Sydney, to buying this place in 2018; we gasped - feeling the magic of the universe in the moment - when we first stepped onto the deck. We now wish to share this amazing experience!
Sherwood Loves is owned and loved dearly by Philamae & Stephen – it’s their home. It is, for them, a sacred space – it is their intent that guests come to share this heart stirring experience of a place, with respect and love. They are keen to share our home with people who wish to connect, commune with nature, or just contemplate over a cuppa.
When you book The Estate, you have exclusive use of the massive deck that wraps around the building, with the stunning views on one side, and the gardens on the other, and there are nooks to allow people to have downtime away from the group...
Enjoy the wonderful collection of art and sculptures that we've collected over the years which we have curated around the estate! In fact - the spaces were specially designed to house our meaningful art, quirky furniture and eclectic artefacts... a tail-wags-dog syndrome, chuckle.
When you book The Estate, you have exclusive use of a chef's kitchen and the dining spaces inside and out, as well as the beautiful lounge. You have access to a main fridge-freezer, as well as full drawers of spices, sauces and condiments for you to whip up gourmet meals.
There are 7 bedrooms in total that can sleep up to 24: PINK, YELLOW, BLUE, ORI, MOSH – a beautiful bunkroom, YIN and YANG. You can also have single room bookings. The DOT motif you see in every room represents ‘wholeness’. For some, the DOT also represents the attainment of an enlightened state of being. The intention of Sherwood Loves is to share the property's vibration of peace, love and completeness with those who experience her.
In 2027, Sherwood Loves will run consciousness-raising retreats for people to rest and reset, release, reconnect and rise. Message me to get on the mailing list!
These spaces are yours to enjoy exclusively - Stephen and Philamae will occasionally, and discretely pop in and out for maintenance, but generally leave your group to enjoy these spaces.
The YIN and YANG bedrooms have been created more earthy and grounded... they are both in The Stables Building. In these rooms, you will find historical pieces from the original stable re-installed back into the rooms. The beautiful 11.5m hand hewn beam, sitting on their original support beam, imbedded in the original plinth brings character to these rooms. Yin is inspired by the divine feminine in all of us, and Yang celebrates the divine masculine in all of us.
The PINK, BLUE and YELLOW bedrooms have been created to celebrate whimsical, colourful, playful artists and their art... The Pink Room - almost dreamy - is dedicated to Sarah Rankin, an artist from Geelong, Australia. The Yellow Room - so bright and sunshiny - is like the artist we are dedicating this room to, Sha’an d’Anthes, aka Furry Little Peach from Sydney, Australia. The Blue Room - where humans, fauna and flora cosily connect - is dedicated to Helen Dardik from Ottawa, Canada. All prolific, all inspiring!
The ORI Room is included; it is the ORIGINAL room, the cottage, built in 1840s. ‘ORI’ in Latin means ‘rise’, ‘begin’, ‘appear’; or in Hebrew, it means ‘my light’ and therefore, this is the original light that rose, the beginning of Sherwood Loves Tasmania almost 200 years ago.
The MOSH room is the largest room that sleeps 6 comfortably with its own lounge area; the sofa can be converted into a sofa bed. The idea behind MOSH is that this room is a MOSH up of people (being a bunk room), as well as a MOSH up of cultures and styles. The beautiful and vibrant art is by Singapore artist and playwright Desmond Sim who captures the Peranakan culture beautifully (Peranakan is a mosh of the Chinese and Malay cultures). This room is also a MOSH up of textures - the beautiful sandstone walls, the timber ceiling and floors. There are two doors to MOSH, the external door leads onto the deck with magnificent views.
