This is what supporting producers in bushfire affected areas looks like.
This week I’m on Kangaroo Island, talking with the tourism and business community and sourcing produce to be featured on our next Cheese Club Offer.
Seeing the complete devastation has been tough. An area 6 times the size of Bruny Island has been destroyed along with 89 homes, over a dozen businesses and virtually all of the accommodation on the western half of the island. And yet everyone I spoke with has shown unbelievable resilience and fortitude. Despite this, this community needs help... big time. And I don’t just mean those who have lost everything. It’s the businesses that have survived that will do the heavy lifting for the next few months as they continue to provide a reason for people to visit and maintain employment. That’s why for the months of February we are going to deviate from our rule of only showcasing Tassie produce and switch our support to the producers of Kangaroo Island.
