Some places inspire art. Others become part of the story. ✨

For Bruce Munro, Ulur̲u was the inspiration behind Field of Light, an experience created to sit gently within the landscape and honour the connection between light, land and Aṉangu Country.

Country is our teacher.

Today, we celebrate Indigenous Literacy Day by recognising the next generation of Aṉangu interpreters and language teachers.

Through Iwiri’s on-Country Language, Voice and Access project, supported by the Aṉangu Communities Foundation, young Aṉangu language speakers are learning alongside senior interpreters and strengthening their skills across Pitjantjatjara, Yankunytjatjara and English.

Together, we're creating pathways for the next generation to carry language, culture and knowledge forward.

Spring in the Red Centre brings a splash of gold, as Wanari (mulga wattle) begins to bloom across Uluṟu-Kata Tjuṯa National Park. 🌼

For Aṉangu, wanari is more than a seasonal bloom. Its seeds are roasted and ground into food, its roots provide a home for maku (witchetty grubs), and its hard wood is used to make tools. A plant that has sustained life on Country for generations, wanari reminds us that every part of the landscape has a story to tell.

This Wattle Day, take a closer look at the plants of Country.
