Turtlegrass Resort & Island Club

Turtlegrass Resort & Island Club A visionary resort in development in Exuma. Is unusable tourism infrastructure worth destroying the fragile beauty of Exuma?

Celebrating the beauty, culture, and communities of The Bahamas through hands-on experience rooted in appreciation for the surrounding environment. Turtlegrass Resort & Island Club in The Bahamas is designed for guests to gather and connect with the pristine natural paradise of Exuma. The ecotourism project, located on the North Bay of Sampson Cay, is committed to preserving and nurturing the uniq

ue seagrass meadows, corals, green sea turtles, Queen conch, and rich biodiversity of the cay. Our campaign, “Paradise Found Under the Water,” seeks to prevent Rosewood and Yntegra from dredging acres of native seagrass in a flawed resort development plan that would imperil this critical marine ecosystem. Important Update!

The Bahamas Supreme Court has ordered Yntegra to disclose key documents it withheld in the Rosewood Exuma case; documents central to how this project received its environmental approvals. Yntegra’s failure to provide them led to a dedicated disclosure hearing and forced a postponement of the entire trial. This ruling is a major win for the community, for transparency, and for the rule of law. Bahamians will now finally be able to see how the Yntegra project came to be granted approvals by DEPP. We are extremely pleased that the Court recognised these were key documents that the other side had failed to disclose, even as their attorneys repeatedly insisted everything relevant had already been shared.

Honoured to have Turtlegrass Resort CEO Bob Coughlin featured in the Cincinnati Business Courier on conservation, community, and what drives him.

The article talks about Bob's philanthropy in the US and in The Bahamas, including through Friends of Exuma, a nonprofit he founded that funds conservation, youth development, and community programs across the island chain/

It's the same conviction behind the fight to protect North Bay. Right now, a proposal to dredge the bay threatens the seagrass beds and reefs that make Exuma worth fighting for. 8,300 people have already signed. If you haven't, now's the time

The Tribune investigated Yntegra Group and raised serious questions about its CEO's track record. This is the same group now seeking approval to develop one of the Exumas' most pristine environments. The stories raised serious questions, and they deserve answers.

Without our help, the North Bay of Sampson Cay Exuma is about to change forever. Miami-based investor Yntegra wants to dredge through healthy seagrass beds, coral reefs, and conch nursery grounds to build an industrial supply dock for their proposed Rosewood resort. Fuel ships would pass through recreational areas within 200 feet of beaches, transforming this pristine bay into a commercial shipping channel.

Using professional CGI based on their publicly filed plans, this video illustrates what this would look like. Progress doesn't have to sacrifice what makes Exuma extraordinary. Join the community of Exuma, and thousands of others in calling on Yntegra to move their dock and industrial facilities.

For almost two years, future resort construction at Turtlegrass Resort has been paused and the Central Exuma community has been forced to take a stand because of Yntegra's plans to dredge in the North Bay for its proposed industrial dock, waste and fuel facilities. On Saturday, Bob Coughlin, Turtlegrass Resort founder, issued a call to action and a straightforward solution:

"Yntegra should forgo its plans to turn the North Bay into a commercial shipping channel, instead moving these facilities to the south of Sampson Cay, where deep water access already exists.

No dredging through seagrass and coral. No impact on the shared beach that makes this area special. No introduction of industrial shipping traffic into a sensitive recreational area. No delays from environmental concerns or legal disputes.

We really believe a southern dock isn't a concession - it's a better plan for everyone.

Good development doesn't have to choose between progress and protecting what makes a place valuable. The people of Central Exuma deserve better than an impasse. Let’s create a future we're all proud of."

Imagine this seawall in the beautiful North Bay of Sampson Cay, disrupting the very currents and tides that keep this beautiful area alive.

This is a visual rendering of the proposed seawall and service dock for Yntegra’s Rosewood Exuma project. The details were pulled directly from the project’s Environmental Management Plan. The seawall, nearly 400 feet long and 40 feet wide, would be built straight across a tidal cut, disrupting the natural flow of water that keeps the bay alive. Within the North Bay are thriving seagrass nurseries and coral reefs. Where is the full analysis of how this wall will impact these ecosystems, beyond the destructive dredging required to create the dock basin and entrance channel?

Why destroy a natural bay when less damaging alternatives exist? This project does not respect the environment, nor is it sustainable. We are calling for transparency, accountability, and better decision-making.
