Our guests last month spotted “The Boss” — one of Banff’s most well-known grizzly bears. Encounters like this are a reminder that wildlife truly is part of daily life here, and it’s one of the reasons people fall in love with this place. Seeing a grizzly (safely and from a distance) is a moment visitors never forget.

If you’re visiting Banff this winter, keep your eyes open around Bow Falls, the Fairmont area, and the trails near Tunnel Mountain. Bears typically slow down as the season shifts, but sightings can still happen right up until denning.
