We have now stayed at Ocean View Motel & Cottages two summers in a row, and it has quickly become one of our favourite places to stay along the Cabot Trail. We absolutely love the location in Cheticamp. It’s close to the national park and so many beautiful walking and hiking trails, while still being close enough to town that you can walk to everything. One of our favourite parts of both trips was walking to the Doryman Pub each night for delicious dinners and live music.
There’s also a beautiful beach just a short drive away, so the location really couldn’t be better for exploring the area.
The staff are absolutely lovely and were so kind and accommodating throughout our stay. This year especially, they were incredibly helpful with our changing accommodations, and we truly appreciated how easy and welcoming they made everything.
The cleanliness of this property deserves a special mention. Every room we stayed in was extremely clean, comfortable and very well cared for.
This year, we had the pleasure of staying in two of the Deluxe Chalets as well as a motel-style room with two queen beds. We stayed in the Family Chalet last year, which we loved, but the Deluxe Chalet was honestly next level. WOW!
The Deluxe Chalets are beautiful. They have a gorgeous king bed in each room, which was such a treat after travelling and staying in places where king beds were hard to come by. There’s also a beautiful large jetted bathtub, absolutely perfect after spending a day driving and exploring. The chalets are beautifully decorated, with so many thoughtful little touches, including a Keurig. And the bathroom… a bidet toilet with a heated seat and adjustable water temperature! Such a fun and unexpected luxury.
The two Deluxe Chalets are located at the top of the hill, so they also have a lovely view of the water. They really feel like a special little getaway.
We also stayed in one of the motel accommodations, which had everything we needed. The room was spotless, the beds were comfortable, and we were pleasantly surprised by how quiet it was, we couldn’t hear the people on either side of us. Having air conditioning in both accommodations was also a huge plus.
In the evenings, we loved sitting outside around the beautiful fire pits. There are lots of places to sit, and this year they even had hammocks, which were such a nice addition. There’s also a corn hole game, making the outdoor area a great place to relax at the end of the day.
If we had to choose, we definitely prefer the chalets when we’re staying for more than one night because of the extra space and amenities. But honestly, you can’t go wrong with either option. Everything is so well maintained and cared for.
We can’t say enough about how much we enjoyed our stays at Ocean View. Between the incredible location, beautiful accommodations, cleanliness, thoughtful touches and, most importantly, the wonderful staff, it’s a place we would happily return to again and again.
