It's FINALLY here! The full length Dog river Video is up on the Explore The Backcountry YouTube channel:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vf0NVZXFFUg
(~2hrs runtime)

A demanding adventure unfolds deep in the untamed wilderness of Lake Superior’s North Shore. We take on a rare descent of the Dog River—one of Ontario’s most notoriously difficult and lesser‑paddled whitewater routes. From powerful rapids to massive waterfalls, this river throws everything it has at us.

Along the way, we’re rewarded with breathtaking scenery, unforgettable fishing, campfire laughs with good friends, and a few unexpected setbacks that push the adventure to a whole new level.

Here's a snippet from an awesome CIV run.

Reliving the rush from one of the Dog River’s wildest sets, the kind of run that fires me up for spring tripping all over again. 🌊🚣‍♂️
Running a little behind schedule, but the full Dog River adventure video is dropping in the next week or two.
Stay tuned, stay stoked, and keep exploring the waterways that call you back.

We’ve got a new paddler joining the Explore The Backcountry crew this January!

They may not have a paddle yet, but this tiny adventurer has already logged some serious backcountry kilometers, tagging along as an unwitting passenger on a summer full of canoeing, including a 28-day adventure through the wilds of Wabakimi.

And what a trip through Wabakimi! With Leah three months pregnant, we had to swap our original expedition plans for something a little more local, but still wild, remote, and full of challenge. And challenge we got! One infamous creek push easily made our top 10 hardest tripping days ever. Through it all, Leah paddled and portaged like a champ. Growing a human and hauling a gear over lost trails and waist deep muskeg? No big deal!!

Now, as we paddle into fall, we’re diving into editing content from our summer adventures. The bump’s getting harder to hide, so we figured it’s time to share the news!

Stay tuned as we start rolling out stories and footage throughout the season. The journey continues… with one more on board!

🚣‍♀️🌲 Big news! Leah and I are about to kick off a month-long paddling adventure! While we originally planned to head deep into Northern Labrador, a mix of factors led us to pivot, and now we’re returning to one of our favorite wild places: the Little North.

This time, we’re exploring the sprawling lakes and rivers near the Wabakimi region. It might not have the tundra’s drama or the ocean’s vastness, but this wilderness is endlessly rich, you could paddle here for a lifetime and never retrace your route. We’ve got 29 days of pure adventure ahead!

🎉 Even more exciting: we’ve partnered with for 2025! We’ve already tested a few of their boats on whitewater and bushwhack portages, and we’re stoked to be paddling the Canyon in T-Formex Lite. It’s built for wild rivers; and will be perfect for shredding pushy rapids on the Albany and hauling gear across those long portages.

Happy exploring! 🌊🛶
