More than half of all multi-unit buildings already sort their food scraps and recycling, and all residents will be sorting by the end of 2027.

Waste Services is hosting a virtual information session at 6 p.m. on Friday, February 20 to share resources and answer your questions!

Helpful tips on how to handle your waste carts for successful collection include:
• Follow the one (1) metre clearance on each side of a cart to make it accessible for waste collection operators
• Lids must close completely
• Place carts and blue bags before 7 a.m. on collection day (Tuesdays)
• Face the cart to the roadway with the wheels to the curb or edge of the alley

To note:

The first thing you'll do in 2026 (besides celebrating at midnight) won’t involve setting out your waste.

Homes with regular Thursday waste collection will have their waste picked up on Monday, December 29, instead of the usual January 1.

Normal Thursday collection will resume the following week.
