38% of nonprofit women are reporting regular burnout.
That number should get the attention of every nonprofit leader, board member, and funder.
The 2026 State of Women’s Well-Being in Nonprofits, created by YMCA WorkWell and the Women’s Nonprofit Network, shows that burnout is not just an individual well-being issue. It is connected to the conditions people are working within: limited resources, growing workloads, compensation pressures, and the weight of trying to deliver on an important mission.
For leaders, the question is not simply, “How do we help people cope?”
It is also: What can we change about the way the work is structured?
Clearer planning, shared systems, better workflows, and easier access to the tools people need can help reduce some of the avoidable operational pressure teams carry every day.
That is part of the purpose behind Olea Connects: helping nonprofit organizations build stronger systems around the people doing the work.
Thank you to YMCA WorkWell and the Women’s Nonprofit Network for bringing this research forward and giving the sector important data to learn from.
