Painted Turtle Lake Retreat welcomes busy creatives or visiting travelers to our vacation rental studio oasis in a woodsy, waterfront community near Giroux, MB, �, where you can effortlessly pause to be immersed in nature with all the comforts of home.

I’ve missed you! Here’s a little update on what I’ve been doing since we transitioned the studio from a vacation rental to a long term tenancy.

My new energetics practice, The Listening Ground, has grown! I’m now working with creatives, moving through their inner blocks so they can create work that finally matches the size of their calling. I’m testing out a new framework called Creative Kinship, and I have space for 3 more creatives to join the beta round at 50%.

Otherwise, I do expect to share pics of the woods and water here on my stories, so you can still get your Painted Turtle Lake fix with me. See you around!

This is our last month hosting short term guests!

THANK YOU for bering part of the last 7 years of amazing memories! You have brought more joy and delight to our yard - and to my life - than you even imagine. Together we have celebrated anniversaries, birthdays, funerals, births, work projects, sanity time, creative time, solo time... and everything in between.

I have loved every minute, every reservation, every conversation, every turnover.

I’m sending a special shout out to our repeat guests - I miss you already! And a special thanks to my cleaner, Cathleen, who has kept us going over the past years. I could not have done this without her.

After 7 years of hosting - with 4 of these years as Manitoba’s inaugural Most Hospitable Host, thanks to your reviews - it’s time to turn my attention to new projects. We have a long term renter moving in next month so October 31 is our last day on the calendar.

We have a couple of mid-week dates left this month if you want to take advantage of the last beautiful fall views over the lake out the studio windows. This feels like fitting time of year to help me release our hosting memories along with the falling leaves!

This season means so much to me.

First, the Solstice and its invitation to sit with our shadows.

Then remembering the birth of the Christ child, the Prince of Peace, who taught us that we are not bound by empires but united with love in our hearts.

My purpose with this account is to bring rest and delight to your IG feed, invite you to stay at our retreat if you ever need a space like ours, and to reflect a practice of reconciliation and reciprocity in the way I live into my little business.

But I don’t know how to create content for this account in times like these.

I can’t reconcile my purpose in this account wth the unbelievable violence we are watching unfold in front of our eyes against Palestinians. Especially not on Christmas, when Bethlehem itself is under apartheid. Our governments, and all of us in our ignorance, have been complicit in this violence for well over 75 years.

People’s lives literally depend on us mobilizing for peace right now, today.

If you haven’t yet, please learn the real history and cause of the violence in Palestine. Peace for Jewish people will never come at the cost of violence to others.

May we create a world together where everyone has equal access to rest and delight.

You know it’s time for a fresh perspective when you sit on your couch for some well-deserved R&R and all you can think about is:
🔨 that baseboard needing replacing
🧺 that load of laundry needing to be folded
🎒 the pile of mail on the table needing to be sorted
🧼 when’s the last time I cleaned out the microwave or wiped the kitchen cabinet fronts?

We’ve got perspective for ya!
🌳 a woodsy, waterfront view out the window
🛌 clean, buttery soft sheets to slip into at night (and WE do the laundry!)
🥱 cozy blankets to cuddle with on the couch, no house projects allowed!
