FISHING REPORT:

Had a group fishing Footprint and Cross Bay the past couple of days.

Footprint produced a lot of small Tigers and Rainbows. Some medium sized Tigers were caught and a 26.75” Brown. 2 feet of snow on top of ice.

Cross Bay produced a lot of 30-37” Pike. More too big to keep than smaller keeping size. A few nice Burbot were caught, 1 Whitefish and no walleye.

Because of snow cover and slush we limited our fishing to an area with a well packed trail. The 1 day we tried a different area we encountered multiple spots with slush and got stuck.

ICE REPORT:

Approx 24” of ice with 18-24” of snow on top.

Lots of areas with slush., especially close to shorelines but even out in the middle

Snowmobiles are necessary to get around.

Essential to travel with multiple machines and be prepared with shovel and long strong rope.

Contemplating an ice fishing getaway?

Our all season 3 bedroom cabin is available every weekend until March 21 weekend. Weekdays (Monday thru Wednesday or Thursday) are all booked up.

Queen bed and twin bunk bed in each bedroom. Satellite TV, Starlink internet, cell phone booster, bbq, fish cleaning shack, all the pots/pans/utensils. $200/night.

We need to hire a full time CLEANER and GROUNDSKEEPER for the up coming season. Looking for at least one but preferably 2 people.

Ice report:

We’ve had more than normal snowfall amounts this year which is insulating the ice. Normally, at this time of winter, there’s over 3ft of ice. Currently, there is 2ft of ice, 8-10 inches of snow on top and slush in spots. Track machines (preferably snowmobiles) are necessary to get around.

Because of slush, if venturing more than a short distance away from camp, travel with at least 2 machines and have a long strong rope packed in with your gear. If no slush was encountered on the way out, use the same track coming back.

Thanks to all who are now following Hobbs Resort!!
I plan to use this site mainly to provide info…fishing reports, ice conditions, forest fire info, some good photos, etc.
But also to hopefully use your reach if we get some cabin/RV/campground cancellations, are offering deals/discounts or need to recruit employees.
