Whiteshell, Nopiming and other eastern region provincial parks remain closed due to ongoing out-of-control wildfires. Fire bans remain in effect at all eastern and central region provincial parks. Stay up to date with these resources:

May 15, 2025, 9:30am - Update on Fires in Nearby Communities:

The LGD of Pinawa continues to communicate with the Fire Chief and Municipal Emergency Coordinator and can report the following information:

- The Fire near Lac Du Bonnet appears to be stabilized and there is no current threat to Pinawa.

- There is no concern that the Whiteshell/Ontario or Bird River Fires will approach Pinawa at this time.

A Local State of Emergency has NOT been declared for the LGD of Pinawa.

The LGD of Pinawa will continue to assess the situation on an ongoing basis. We will provide updates in the morning and late afternoon.

Any significant changes to the situation and emergency procedures will be communicated immediately through Pinawa CONNECT, our website and Pinawa LGD facebook.

A few reminders:

- A Burn Ban remains in effect for the LGD of Pinawa. Absolutely no open fires and off-road vehicle travel any time.

- Smoke and air quality continue to be the current concern in Pinawa. Please take precautions to remain indoors with windows closed with air conditioning when possible.

- Drones are not permitted anywhere near the area.

IMPORTANT:
We have just been notified by Pioneer Bay Campground management that ANY outdoor burning is banned, until further notice!
This includes, but is not limited to:
No outdoor cooking:
1) BBQ's - propane, charcoal or other flammable fuels
2) Fires - open pit or enclosed
3) Portable stoves, like Coleman etc.
4) Smokers - wood chip type

No outdoor smoking of:
1) ci******es, ci**rs, pipes
2) burnable medicinal products
3) no disposing of butts, ash, etc outdoors

FOR OUR, AND OTHERS SAFETY, WE ALL MUST ADHERE TO THIS!!!

It is very unfortunate and sad that some people have died as a result of these horrendous fires and that many people have lost their homes, cottages, and other property!

Update on Fires in Nearby Communities: The LGD of Pinawa is in regular communication with the Fire Chief and Municipal Emergency Coordinator and can report that the ongoing fire near Lac Du Bonnet is currently NOT a threat to Pinawa.

A Local State of Emergency has NOT been declared for the LGD of Pinawa.

Smoke and air quality is the current concern in Pinawa. Please take precautions to remain indoors with windows closed with air conditioning when possible.

The LGD of Pinawa will continue to assess the situation on an ongoing basis. We will provide continuous daily updates in the mornings and late afternoons through CONNECT. Any significant changes to the situation and emergency procedures will be communicated immediately through Pinawa CONNECT, our website and Pinawa LGD Facebook.

Although we are not in a current State of Emergency and evacuation is not currently recommended, it is always a good precaution to prepare an emergency kit for any emergency situation.
