It’s Back! I’m so excited to be part of this years charity make along!​

Hortense and Noorain both have loved ones who have been impacted by childhood cancer so they wanted to give back while offering a fun event for knitters and crocheters to participate in! I'm so excited to be participating in such a lovely event! My square will be featured on Friday - so stay tuned.

This year I took the leap and put some of my veggies into our local fair.

I’m so proud of my peppers, I grew these from seed and have a huge yield.

Summer Pie 💕 Tonight I let the kids 3 and 4 help me make my favourite blackberry pie. In fact I let them do most of it :) we picked these blackberries last year together - and had to use the rest up before I picking more fresh ones ready to forage soon.
The boys each got a piece of dough to roll with one of my glass cider bottles perfect for their little hands.
I let them roll it, pat it, and play with it, we filled it with berries and sugar and stuck out fingers in for vents.
This pie doesn’t look beautiful but it’s perfect. I let them do it, because it’s the act of doing in which they will learn, allowing them in the kitchen allows them to love what I do, to love food, to love homegrown and for us to deeply connect as a family.
Food is the biggest way we connect as a family.
I encourage you to just let your kids roll the dough and make you an ugly pie this summer!

Little miss grows more veggies than she eats or little miss feeds her family and neighbours local seasonal delicious veggies!

Sometimes you just have to dig a big hole in the ground to remember how quickly things can change.
Every step, every action, every dream and blink you make can get you that much closer to the life you want.
For us that meant using this strange weather to forget about cutting hay for awhile and dig out the pond.

From the far corner of the property I can only look up, up on the apple trees, the garden, the cows and chickens and beyond to the Beaufort range.
It reminds me of no matter how low I feel, how overwhelmed with all I still want to achieve things are growing our garden is thriving and I’m farther along than I ever thought I’d be.
It’s a journey. No matter where you are, remember your closer than you were … thanks for being part of my learning curve!
