There are real people behind the listing, and it’s time I do an intro post and how Magna Bay found us.
Side note * It’s times like this that I realize I don’t have up to date or curated family photos, and my kids might kill me. 🪦🤣
We are the Beer family; Bruce (repair and maintenance) and Brigitta (admin and guest relations), and our 3 fantastic and fun grown daughters.
We purchased Magna Bay Hideaway in March 2025. As I mentioned, we didn’t find it, it found us.
We’ve always had a heart for hosting. We lived in West Kelowna and our plan for that home was to convert part of it into a vacation rental when the kids moved out. However in 2023 we lost everything in the McDougall Creek wildfire - 2 years ago today (wow, so much has happened!).
Within weeks of the fire, our business began some major unexpected restructuring and in the midst of that, a few months later my husband was diagnosed with a severe illness.
Jumping a year forward, which was a blur of treatments and life adjustments, by March 2025 our commercial building had sold and we just completed a round of alternative treatments for hubby in Mexico.
We were ready to stop and just catch our breath.
A day before we got home from Mexico I saw the listing. I wasn’t looking for it - I was just doing a quick Facebook doom scroll.
And everything about it was so obvious.💡
A place for families and friends to gather.
Special celebrations
Reunions
Retreats
Peace
Rest
Two days later we went to see it, and that evening we put in an offer - it felt so right to both of us.
May was a flurry of activity to get it ready; deep cleaning, upgrades, stocking and set up and we knew we were late to the game for this season - we would enjoy it this summer ourselves.
But others saw what we saw and we are shocked and pleasantly surprised that since end of June it has been mostly booked, and next summer has only 2 weeks and few odd days remaining.
Worst timing yet best timing.
No regrets.
