At bats aka repetitions of outreach (actually calling venues, sending emails, visiting in person, and networking) is the lever you have the most control over especially as you grow your gigging career.
If you put in the reps you’ll see a certain % of gatekeepers engage and if they don’t it signals for you to work on your brand (look, messaging, tone, etc).

Most musicians are taught how to perform.

They are not taught how to intentionally get into better rooms, position themselves for premium opportunities, or build a pipeline beyond bars.

Cocktail hours, weddings, wineries, hotels, clubs, and private events are not reserved for some special class of musician.

Getting there takes strategy, professionalism, positioning, and outreach.

Those are all learnable skills.

A lot of capable musicians assume weddings, corporate events and private functions are reserved for some higher level of performer.

They’re usually not.

The skill gap is often smaller than the business gap.

You may already be good enough to play the event. What you might still need is a better understanding of the client, the experience they’re buying, the equipment required, and how to present yourself as the person who can reliably deliver it.

Better gigs don’t always require becoming a better musician first.

Sometimes they require becoming a better-positioned one.
