Missing Dog. :(
Sandy's 11 day run came to an end today in New Westminster after running the streets and Queens Park area for over 3 hours. I met up with all the volunteers and New Westminster Animal Control and immediately the chase was on. She kept running through the park, down streets and darting into every alley she could find. Finally I was following her down a street and she was starting to show signs of exhaustion; I didn't want her to get to next street as she wasn't looking for cars anymore. I saw the opportunity to race in front of her and force her into someones property. She ran into a backyard and volunteers surrounded the property as I and Jason went into the backyard to find her. Her tracks lead to a corner and we assumed that she went into an adjacent yard. We all went back out to the street to carry on searching the neighborhood, we soon realized that she had not made it to street and we decided to go through the yards again. Jason saw her tracks lead behind a garage and yelled to us. Margie Fox from the New Westminster Animal Control and I got to the spot and saw Sandy hiding in the corner, Jason had her blocked in except for a broken piece in the wooden fence. He quickly jumped over the fence to block the hole off and I started to move toward Sandy anticipating that she might try to make a run for it; I was determined that she would not be getting past me and if by chance she did Margie was standing right behind me with a large net. I got up to her and talked to her for a second and realized that she was done and had given up, she knew that I wasn't there to hurt her and it was over. I carried her to the car without any problems. Ingrid and Jason and several other volunteers took her to the vets. She is doing fine and will be picked up tomorrow after a night of iv and having her one nail taken off.
Julie (my new assistant) and I enjoyed helping with the search of Sandy and had fun meeting and working with all the volunteers and neighbors that helped her get home safe. We would also like to thank Margie Fox and the team from the New Westminster Animal Control for spending the afternoon bringing Sandy home - they wouldn't quit! Thanks also goes out to Burnaby SPCA for their help in the search and their generosity in offering the use of their traps. So many people helped Sandy, it was quite amazing to see! Thanks to everyone, you made our job a lot easier.

She is a tan coloured mix breed who has a microchip. She pulled out of her harness so she has no identification. She is shy and likely won’t come to anyone as she will be completely terrified and cold. If seen or found, please contact:
