Sometimes you have to zoom out to realise just how extraordinary home can be. ❤️

Sometimes we think adventure has to mean travelling somewhere far away.

Last night reminded us that it doesn't.

We pitched a tent in the garden, watched the stars appear, listened to the sounds of nature, and woke up surrounded by mountains.

The children were already asking when we could do it again before breakfast.

It's a simple reminder that some of the best family memories don't come from elaborate plans—they come from saying "yes" to small adventures.

Two Emilios. Two countries. One afternoon. ❤️

They met only a few days ago.

Different countries.

But within minutes, none of that seemed to matter.

They were simply two children building, imagining and playing together.

Watching moments like these reminds us that some of the greatest memories aren't planned. They happen naturally when families come together and share a little piece of life.

For the first time since creating Quinta 4Gatos, our family will be away on an extended adventure.

From October 19 to November 30, 2026, we'll be travelling, and we'd love another family to enjoy this special place while we're away.

Quinta 4Gatos is our family home in the Colombian Andes, near Barichara and San Gil. It's a place for mountain views, outdoor adventures, coffee on the terrace, fishing in our lakes, evenings under the stars, and experiencing a slower rhythm of life.

There's something special about the moment a trip comes to an end.

The familiar road. The gate opening. Kiwi coming to say hello. Unpacking the bags. Watching the sun disappear behind the mountains.

After a wonderful few days exploring Villa de Leyva, it felt good to be back at Quinta 4 Gatos.

Travelling gives us new memories. Coming home reminds us why we love this place so much.

One of the things we love most about HomeExchange is that every journey ends the same way: with a deeper appreciation for home—both the places we discover and the one we're always happy to return to.

Every adventure ends somewhere... ours always ends here. ❤️🌿

Sometimes the places that stay with you aren't the biggest or the most famous—they're the ones that make you wonder, "How did someone imagine this?"

Casa Terracota is one of those places.

The children explored every corner with endless curiosity, and we found ourselves slowing down to appreciate the creativity behind every wall, window, and staircase.

It's another reminder that travelling isn't only about seeing new places; it's about discovering ideas, stories, and perspectives you wouldn't find anywhere else.

There’s something special about slowing down and exploring a place without rushing from one attraction to the next.

Over the last 48 hours, Villa de Leyva gave us a little bit of everything: beautiful streets, delicious chocolate, a few very curious ostriches, and, most importantly, another opportunity to enjoy these moments together as a family.

We're discovering that the places we remember most aren't always the ones with the biggest attractions—they're the ones where we laugh the most, learn something new, and simply enjoy being together.

On to the next adventure! ❤️🇨🇴

One of the things we've loved most since moving to Colombia is watching our children discover the outdoors in their own way.

This time, it was a pair of boots, a fishing rod, and an afternoon by the lake.

No pressure to catch anything. Just curiosity, patience, laughter, and the excitement of seeing what might happen next.

It's amazing how the simplest moments often become the ones everyone remembers.

These are the childhood memories we're grateful to be creating together. ❤️🌿
