IL VIAGGIO TRAVEL is a Costa Rican ground operator founded in 2005 by Emilio Zuñiga and Stephanie Sheehy. Emilio was born in Liberia Guanacaste, where tourism surrounded him. During his childhood his father had a travel agency, then a boutique hostel, Emilio started
his own horseback riding tours on his father’s farm, he worked as a guide on a canopy and ended up studying to be a certified guide. Then he came to San Jose to the University where he studied Business Management. When he finished his Bachelor he started to work at a local ground operator and that was when he met Stephanie. Stephanie was born in Escazu, in the Central Valley of the country. And similar to Emilio she was surrounded by Tourism. Her grandfather was a Pilot of the only and first airline of Costa Rica called LACSA. This meant that the whole family travelled a lot and always together. The grandmother and mother always taught the value of Family. Then she grew up and studied Interior Design. This carrier opened her mind into the world of creativity and she loved the amazing universe of hospitality. So she went to work at a Hotel and ended up working at a local ground operator where she met Emilio. Two different worlds united on one industry. Both of them fall in love with the country and since then they haven’t hesitate to show, teach, and create journeys around the country. A local company that will design personalized itineraries where clients were guests and had names instead of numbers. In 2013 the first baby of the happy couple was born. A baby girl named Emma. Since then Emilio and Stephanie decided to move their work to Home. So they have their office with their staff and both of them work from home. This decision was made because Family is the first pillar and the reason why we work so hard. Emilio’s and Stephanie’s work is not only on the office, they also go out to do inspections of the suppliers and show its product at Travel Shows. All of this is done as a Family. Now in 2016 Gabriel was born. And we continue our hard work from home, doing the continues site inspections to pre-select suppliers and travel around the world on promotional trips. This is why we say we Live, Work and Travel as Family.
