We’ve been a little bit absent lately. But we have very good reasons for! Appart from the currently and upcoming photo exhibitions from .t.castillo in La Ciotat, Xavier and I have decide to embark into a new adventure !!! Very similar to Cookicastilloapartments but the new one will have a Mediterranean flair and an eco-friendly emphasis! 🤞🤞🤞

Peeling Plantains to make TOSTONES. One of my favorite Cuban side dishes. Tostones are made of green Plantains and are very popular side or snack.

The hard part is peeling them, an old Cuban superstition says that you should keep quiet while peeling plantains other wise your fingers will become black. I'm very chatty so this is the hard part for me!

In cuba is normal to be offered a coffee when you visit somebody in their home. Plan your visits ahead if you dont want to have 10 coffees in a day 😅

Today we are celebrating International Women's Rights Day.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This year's invitation to create a more inclusive world, made me think on Villaverde's novel "Cecilia Valdés" where the melodramatic plot serves as a background for social life in Cuba, with slavery, injustice, crises and personal tragedies.

Yes! we have made historic progress towards equality but we live in incredibly contrasting times, where there is still much work to be done.

The Sculpture of Cecilia Valdés by the artist Erig Rebull, is located in front of the atrium of the Santo Ángel Custodio Church, in Havana, in the Loma del Ángel square.

Croquetas Cubanas!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
A perfect snack or a main dish. In Cuba we eat the them with bread, rice, ketchup, mayo, salad, for breakfast, for lunch, for dinner…. 😂
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
They can be made out of almost everything : fish, chicken, veggies, cheese, risotto leftovers or even Thai food from last takeaway (yeah I once did croquetas from it, and they were amazing)
