Marbella has no less than 320 days of sunshine a year and an average temperature of 19ºC in winter. Its good climate invites you to do sports and other outdoor activities during the winter months. Here are 5 things you can do in the city during the winter season:
1. PLAY GOLF:
Costa del Sol, Costa del Golf. Marbella is internationally known for the quality of its golf courses and the possibility to enjoy them practically all year.
2: WALKING ALONG THE PROMENADE:
Marbella’s promenade is over 10 kilometres long, linking the town with the most famous and glamorous European marina, Puerto Banús (7 km) and San Pedro de Alcántara (10 km).
3. SHOPPING:
Marbella offers three main shopping areas for visitors. The Old Town is possibly the most beautiful place, with all kinds of boutiques dotted along narrow, white streets full of flowers. Puerto Banús, one of the major shopping centres with great designer shops arranged around the marina designed in the purest Mediterranean style. Finally, La Cañada, a modern shopping centre in the north of the city. Considered one of the largest in Andalucia, it was elected Best Shopping Centre in Spain in 2003.
4. GASTRONOMY:
Gastronomy is always strong in Andalucia. The city of Marbella offers travellers a world of restaurants catering for all tastes. Unlike other destinations, most bars are open all year round.
On sunny winter days you can enjoy the terraces and the typical bar restaurants (“chiringuitos”) on the seafront.
5. NEARBY EXCURSIONS:
Marbella’s strategic location makes it an ideal base from which to visit other nearby destinations. Just an hour away is one of the most beautiful cities in Andalucia, the romantic and spectacular Tajo Ronda. At the same distance, we find Malaga, the capital of the province, which offers many points of interest to see, such as the Picasso Museum, the Thyssen, the cathedral or the Muelle Uno port. Also, after a three-hour drive, we reach Seville and Granada, which are well worth a winter visit to admire their beautiful heritage.
