🇪🇸💆🏻‍♀️ A BATHING & THALASSOTHERAPY AREA WILL BE CREATED IN TORREVIEJA’S PINK LAGOON

Torrevieja City Hall and Nueva Compañía Arrendataria de las Salinas de Torrevieja (NCAST), the company responsible for salt extraction, signed an agreement at the international tourism fair FITUR in Madrid to launch the first phase of a project to create a bathing and thalassotherapy area in the Pink Lagoon.
The zone will be оборудed on the site of former open salt ponds north of the main industrial facilities.
The initiative aims to develop the tourist potential of the lagoon’s mineral-rich waters and therapeutic mud. Currently, recreational activities are restricted due to the lagoon’s high ecological value, although it still attracts large numbers of visitors during summer.

Back in 2018, the salt company identified the strong tourism potential of the salt quarries. Since then, specially adapted spaces on the lagoon’s outskirts have welcomed around 40,000 visitors annually.
While the company also operates a salt & souvenir shop and produces about 500,000 tons of salt per year, it will not directly manage the bathing zone — limiting its role to sublease agreements.
