It is with mixed emotions that I write to tell you all that today was our last day at Le Tilleul! In order to be 'commitment-free' by the summer of 2020 and the perceived 'slow' housing market in France, we put Le Tilleul up for sale in May this year. It sold within a week of coming onto the market and we have been busy making plans ever since. Our final gite guests left last Sunday and today we passed the property to its new owners, Allan and Ruth Smith.
We have enjoyed the past eight years immensely! There have been many highs and a few lows but, overall, it has been an experience not to be missed. To all of those who visited us, we thank you! If you visited and booked one of the gites, a double thank-you! It has been a blast, but now we move on to the next 'adventure', whatever that turns out to be!
We will be renting in Angouleme in the short term, until Georgia and Angus finish their Secondary Education there, Georgia next year and Angus in 2020

Although many of our guests have the best of intentions to explore our beautiful region, they often end up spending most of their time at Le Tilleul as there is so much on offer here: the 13m pool, Pétanque, croquet, table tennis, table football, archery, the cool gym, Möllky, badminton, darts, the playpark and the much loved 14ft trampoline....to name but a few! However, here's a taste of what is on offer for those who fancy exploring the Charente a little bit more!

**TOO LATE - IT'S GONE! One very lucky family from Wimborne in Dorset has bagged a real bargain!**

We have one week's availability left during the UK school summer holidays in our larger gite Le Pommier (Sleeps 6) - 11th to 18th August 2018. This week became available again about a month ago (due to a late cancellation on medical grounds) and with only two weeks to go we've decided to offer a £500 reduction, yes that's a MASSIVE £500 reduction, on the list price - that means it's £1195 instead of the list price of £1695! The annual 'Fête Médiévale' is taking place in La Rochefoucauld this weekend. We went last year and thoroughly recommend it as a great family day out for all ages.

If you are staying at Le Tilleul, we recommend a few hours exploring our pretty local town of La Rochefoucauld. Guests can visit the beautiful château, parts of which date back to the 11th Century and have a stroll around the shady woodland walks which are nestled behind it. From the château, cross the bridge over La Tardoire river and discover the convent 'des Carmes' and the high-street with its restaurants, crêperie, cafés, shops, cinema and 'chocolaterie'.
