Narbonne is a town in southern France on the Canal de la Robine. The Gothic Cathédrale Saint-Just et Saint-Pasteur was begun in the 13th century but never completed. The grand Palais des Archevêques (Archbishop's Palace) houses archaeology and art museums. The Horreum is an underground labyrinth of ancient warehouses left over from the town’s days as a Roman port. The nearby beach and harbor is at Narbonne Plage.

Toulouse, capital of France’s southern Occitanie region. It’s known as La Ville Rose (‘The Pink City’) due to the terra-cotta bricks used in many of its buildings. Its 17th-century Canal du Midi links the Garonne to the Mediterranean Sea, and can be traveled by boat, bike or on foot.

This small museum was so much fun and a step back in time 😍.

Ostia Antica is one of the best-preserved ancient Roman towns, located about 25 km southwest of Rome, near the modern town of Ostia and close to the coast. It served as the harbor city of ancient Rome, situated at the mouth of the River Tiber (hence the name: "Ostia" comes from the Latin ostium, meaning "mouth").

Traditionally attributed to King Ancus Marcius in the 7th century BCE, though archaeological evidence points to around the 4th century BCE.

It is one of the most significant monuments in Sicily, and part of the “Arab‑Norman Palermo and the Cathedral Churches of Cefalù and Monreale” UNESCO World Heritage site.

Originally built in the 9th century during Arab rule as the Qasr (castle/palace).

After the Norman conquest (around 1072), it was expanded and transformed into a royal and administrative residence. Roger II had the Palatine Chapel built (1130s).

Over subsequent centuries (Swabian, Angevin, Aragonese, Spanish, Bourbon rule) the palace saw many additions, reconstructions, and decorative changes: new rooms, courtyards, bastions etc.

Today it still serves a governmental function: it is the seat of the Sicilian Regional Assembly.

The Rocca has been inhabited since prehistory. There are megalithic remains, including what is called the Temple of Diana, with cisterns/cistern‐like structures.

During Byzantine rule, the Rocca had a settlement; later it passed under Arab control, then Norman. The castle itself seems to have Norman origins (11th‑/12th‑century), though it was modified several times in subsequent centuries (14th‑16th/17th) when its defensive importance declined.

The fortifications include two main curtain walls (cinte murarie): a lower wall following a contour line of about 130–140 m, and an upper wall closer to the summit (~260 m), enclosing the castle proper.

It seems the castle lost its military role over time and was abandoned by the 19th century. Since 1989 there have been restoration works, archaeological excavations, and geologic stabilization.
