Victorious Angels Statement :
This morning, Paris Prosecutor, Laure Beccuau, said that 26 victims have been counted in a preliminary investigation opened in February this year, after the Epstein files were released. Eight are still waiting to be interviewed. These include French victims and victims of people of French nationality.
Of these twenty-six victims, thirteen had not previously appeared in any case file - neither in the Brunel case nor in the Gerald Marie case.
She said that the case spans New York, Paris, and is moving towards St Tropez and Cannes. “We are dealing with a very broad geographical scope.”
Of model scout, Daniel Siad, a close associate of Epstein, she said that an interview with Siad had been planned "in the near future”. The interview never came. Siad was found dead in his Paris apartment in July. He was never questioned. Why not, when there were multiple serious allegations against him and he appeared over 2000 times in the Epstein files?
She confirms the inquiry has obtained other names of potential recruiters, describing the Epstein network as ‘labyrinthine’, with 'dozens of threads'. And she intends not to neglect a single one of them.
But r**e and sexual assault victims of French perpetrators linked to Epstein, have still not been interviewed months after coming forward. Having been asked for their availability to speak with police back in February and several times since, still they wait.
Why? What is the delay? We do not want to see a repeat of the Siad fiasco, a dangerous French perpetrator escaping justice because it was left too late for him to be questioned.
Lessons must be learned.
We have to ask again: Why is this taking so long?
Several survivors filed complaints against Daniel Siad at the beginning of February. We were told that he was going to be arrested, and for months we waited for something to happen.
Now Laure Beccuau says that investigators were planning to question him ‘in the near future'. It is very difficult for us to hear that now. We needed him to be questioned while he was alive. All the time he was being given a public platform to deny our allegations, he was still not taken in for questioning. He died a free man. His death absolved him of guilt.
Siad was already known to French investigators long before we came forward. His name came up during the Jean-Luc Brunel investigation in 2019. Why wasn't Siad questioned then? And why, after victims filed criminal complaints this year, was so much time allowed to pass without him being questioned? It is too late for us all now.
Our heartache mirrors that of the Jean Luc Brunel survivors, all denied justice when he died in his prison cell awaiting trial.
How many times must we see this repeated?
Fifteen Brunel, Siad and Gerald Marie survivors signed a letter hand-delivered to the Paris Prosecutor back in February. Our letter asked her to investigate the possible links between Gérald Marie and Jeffrey Epstein. We had obtained emails linking the two men in the 2000s.
Many of us had already filed complaints against Marie in 2020, and given depositions to the French police in 2021.
What has happened since? Why are victims provided with so little information?
Some of us have been waiting for answers for more than 30 years.
We have done everything possible to help the French justice system understand systemic sexual violence of which we were all victims over decades.
We need to be served better. Justice needs to be served.
We appeal once more to Laure Beccuau, please don’t leave it too late again.
