It is also 5 minutes (or a short off-road cycle) from the Blue Flag Plage Veillon beach (sand, surf, kitesurfing), an excellent 18 hole golf course at Port Bourgenay, the picturesque port itself and a range of other amenities. Between 3-5 hours drive south of the main channel ports, this beautiful coastal area offers superb weather for a relaxed or an active holiday: water-sports, great cycling, easy access to La Rochelle (1 hour) and Les Sables d'Olonne; launch point for the Vendee Globe (20 minutes) and a host of other visitor attractions. The all new accommodation; 6 individually styled luxury gites of varying sizes in original 18th century stone farm buildings, caters for groups of from two up to 15 people or, collectively, a full group of 39. They have been designed, created, completely refurbished and modernised and the brand new shared, heated outdoor pool (which is safety fenced to France's high standards) is now in place. Local boulangerie, boucherie, fresh fish and shellfish and local wine outlets all easily accessible.
