What can a tree teach us about letting go? 🍂

There’s something particularly beautiful about making a Tree of Life in autumn.
All around us, the trees are preparing for winter.
They release their leaves.
They draw their energy inwards.
They stand firmly rooted while the seasons change around them.

Autumn isn't simply about endings. It is also about rest, renewal and making space for what comes next.

At our Tree of Life workshop with local Artist Diana Green, you’ll create your own copper wire tree — a small piece of jewellery that can carry whatever meaning feels right for you.
Perhaps your roots represent the people and places that ground you.
Perhaps the branches represent the paths you’ve taken.
Perhaps the leaves or beads symbolise people, memories, hopes or dreams.
Or perhaps you simply love the beauty of the tree.

No need to bring your own bottles of Spring Water at Shining Cliff, as we have our very own private Spring water supply!
There is a rigorous process in place to ensure we are compliant with all the private water supplies, and it goes through several physical and UV filtration steps, but ultimately you’re drinking water from the same source as the water you see in the little stream beside the public footpath between the hostel and private car park 💚

Thoughts please lovely people…
We have groups using the hostel for workshops and work meetings, and a projector would be super useful.
It will be ceiling mounted with a drop-down screen….but where to put it?
The longer lounge area with the screen pulling down in between and possibly in front of 2 bedroom doors, or the smaller dining area with the screen pulling down in front of the window or over the map on the wall🤔

Who-hoo!
We’ve just hit 72% occupancy for hostel bookings this year, the first time since taking on the lease in 2019 that we’ve hit the 70% mark🎉
(I might have put a wrong number in the spreadsheet somewhere but I’ll not double check for a bit and just enjoy seeing 72% 😂)

The Tree of Life 🍂🌳

As the woodland around Shining Cliff begins to turn golden, red and russet, we’re inviting you to spend a morning creating your own little Tree of Life.

On Monday 5th October, 10am–1pm, Diana Green Artist will guide you through making a beautiful Tree of Life pendant from copper wire.

Your tree can be simple and natural, or you can add beads to give it your own character and meaning.

The Tree of Life is a powerful symbol of roots, connection, growth and resilience — of being grounded while continuing to grow and change.

And what better time to explore those ideas than autumn?

As the trees let go of their leaves, the woodland reminds us that change is part of life. Some things are worth holding onto. Others can be released.

Come and make something meaningful with your hands, surrounded by the autumn woodland.
