Come on a dog walk at Wandylaw with me. It was lovely to see great swathes of purple as we arrived at Wandylaw the other day. The farmer has planted scorpion w**d (lacy phacelia) around the margins of the field- it’s not a wildflower I’m familiar with, but presumably it has some ecological benefit as well as being very beautiful. There is a 20 minute loop that our Paddy likes to do, around the western and southern edges of Top Field , across the Western edge of Bottom Fields and then up the lane back on to the drive round to the Nook. It’s a walk I love in every season and variously along the way affords views of the Farne Islands, Bamburgh Castle and Holy Island and has a birdy soundtrack - always have your Merlin Bird ID app to hand! We often see hares and at this time of year the swallows are swooping low over the fields. It’s my happy place
