Spring is a coming with the first colour in our stunning garden at Betty Fold. The course from now through until the end of May, together with the amazing views make a stay all the more special.

A little bit more about Betty Fold. Henry Holiday designed the house himself. He was a well known pre-raffelite artist and stained glass designer. He illustrated Lewis Carrols The Hunting of the Snark. This is a picture of him in front of the house just after it was built in 1907.

This Sunday the Library at Hawkshead Grammar School will be open as part of the Heritage Open Day scheme. The library was started in the 1660's by Daniel Rawlinson, a local man living in London. He got a number of his influential friends to donate books. Through the 1700's whem Wordsworth was at the school and 1800's to library grew and for a subscription locals and publishers go borrow books and use the library. Today there are getting on for 1800 books and a massive project is underway to catalogue them, repair and conserve them. Sunday is and excellent opportunity to view them still in situ and look at the work that's going on

The gardens are starting to look good here at Betty Fold. A stretch of nice weather helps. We have a couple of weeks free in June (weeks beginning 15th and 22nd) You can book online using the Airbnb link above. June at Betty Fold is stunning with amazing views and gorgeous gardens to wander round.
