We spent a happy hour tonight picking the first blackberries of the season. Just two weeks left until we close for Autumn. We’re fully booked at the weekends but we have plenty of space during the week if you want to come and forage among some hedgerows for yourself.

Thank you to Nat for this amazing photo taken from the Camping Grounds last weekend.. We’re two weeks in and already it’s been a joy to welcome so many old and new friends. We are now fully booked at the weekends throughout the summer, but we be have plenty of spaces left during the week.

Dear friends
We have just a quick notice for those of you who are camping over the next couple of weeks.
Our fire services are currently fighting two major wildfires in the peaks. Due to the recent very hot, dry weather, the camping grounds are tinder dry. We could never forgive ourselves if a spark from one of our campfires set our beautiful Manifold Valley alight.
So, we have decided that until the weather changes, we’ll not be allowing campfires. We’re really sorry about this - we know a fire is a brilliant part of camping, but it is just too big a risk to take. We will still be allowing BBQ’s, provided they are charcoal/gas, raised off the ground and heavily supervised.
We have also reinforced our fire precautions with extra barrels of water, buckets and hosepipes.
We’re sorry to have to make this decision - it’s not often that we are longing for rain, but we could really do with a good shower right now.
We can’t wait to welcome our first campers this weekend and look forward to seeing you all over the summer.

Butterton, one of our local villages….

In our loud, busy, frantic world, it makes my heart a little bit lighter to know that, in the Peak District, you’ll still find villages full of stone cottages on narrow lanes, surrounded by rolling hills, where life goes on pretty much as it has for centuries.
