We spent a happy hour tonight picking the first blackberries of the season. Just two weeks left until we close for Autumn. We’re fully booked at the weekends but we have plenty of space during the week if you want to come and forage among some hedgerows for yourself.
(We’re already taking bookings for next year - get your pitch booked early!) k x

How many meteors did you spot? We had a happy night stargazing at the camping grounds. Another amazing photo from Helen Challand who visited specially for the show.

Dear friends
We have just a quick notice for those of you who are camping over the next couple of weeks.
Our fire services are currently fighting two major wildfires in the peaks. Due to the recent very hot, dry weather, the camping grounds are tinder dry. We could never forgive ourselves if a spark from one of our campfires set our beautiful Manifold Valley alight.
So, we have decided that until the weather changes, we’ll not be allowing campfires. We’re really sorry about this - we know a fire is a brilliant part of camping, but it is just too big a risk to take. We will still be allowing BBQ’s, provided they are charcoal/gas, raised off the ground and heavily supervised.
We have also reinforced our fire precautions with extra barrels of water, buckets and hosepipes.
We’re sorry to have to make this decision - it’s not often that we are longing for rain, but we could really do with a good shower right now.
We can’t wait to welcome our first campers this weekend and look forward to seeing you all over the summer.
Best wishes, Kate and James x

It’s been a hard and sweaty couple of days mowing the grass, but we’re almost there….

On a day like today, there’s only one place to be….although I couldn’t stand still for long as something started nibbling my toes..

Butterton, one of our local villages….

In our loud, busy, frantic world, it makes my heart a little bit lighter to know that, in the Peak District, you’ll still find villages full of stone cottages on narrow lanes, surrounded by rolling hills, where life goes on pretty much as it has for centuries.

If you have a copy of my 2026 Peak District Calendar, this is the page that will be bringing a little calm and beauty to your wall for the month of June. I hope it's a wonderful month for us all!

Edited to add, sorry for being such a rubbish salesperson! 🤦‍♀️ I do have a 2027 Calendar out already and it’s currently available for the Early Bird price of only £8.95. Thanks to everyone who asked! Here’s the link:

Some amazing night sky photos from the brilliant Helen Challand. With no light pollution in the valley the Camping Ground is a wonderful place for star gazing.
