đŸ» PUBS NEED YOUR SUPPORT đŸ»

The hospitality industry is facing some of the toughest trading conditions it has seen in years.

While customers see the warm welcome, great food, and friendly atmosphere, behind the scenes pubs are dealing with rising costs at every turn. Energy, suppliers, wages, business rates, and everyday operating expenses continue to increase, making it harder for independent venues to thrive.

Pubs have always been at the heart of their communities. They’re where people celebrate milestones, catch up with friends, support local causes, and create lasting memories. Losing these spaces would mean losing far more than just a place to eat or drink.

That’s why we’re backing the campaign, which is calling for a reduced VAT rate for hospitality businesses across the UK.

A fairer VAT rate would help protect jobs, support local economies, and give pubs and restaurants the opportunity to invest back into the communities they serve.

We’re proud to join hospitality businesses nationwide in speaking up for the future of our industry and the people who depend on it.

Find out more about the campaign, led by Tom Kerridge, and add your support at:

Together, we can help ensure pubs remain at the centre of community life for years to come. ❀

Father’s Day is just around the corner, and there’s no better way to celebrate than with a visit to a proper rural pub for great food, great company and a relaxed Sunday in the
countryside.

Whether your dad is with you or remembered in spirit, it’s a chance to celebrate and show appreciation for the special men in our lives.

Both The Dinton Hermit and The Black Boy will be serving hearty, flavour‑packed plates that make the occasion feel that little bit more special.

At The Dinton Hermit, you’ll find dishes such as a smoked salmon fishcake with broad bean and pea fricassĂ©e, a BBQ bourbon cheeseburger stacked with maple bacon and confit garlic aioli, and a warm chocolate and stout cake with vanilla ice cream and white chocolate shards to finish.

At The Black Boy, expect bold, mouthwatering flavours including gochujang pork belly with crispy rice noodles and pickled chillies, a bourbon‑glazed BBQ chicken leg with Cajun slaw and corn on the cob, and a classic tiramisu to round things off.

Whichever pub you choose, you’ll enjoy a proper countryside setting, generous plates and a warm welcome - everything a Father’s Day should be. Sunday 21st June - book your table now.

Whether you’re driving, pacing yourself, or simply fancying something lighter, our pubs offer one of the best LOW- and NO-ALCOHOL selections in the area.

In addition to traditional soft drinks, we’ve a wide range of options that keep all the flavour, refreshment and enjoyment - just without the alcohol.

You’ll find 0% Free Damm draught lager, alongside Guinness 0.0%, 0.5% IPA and a 0% cider - perfect for sunny afternoons in the garden.

For wine lovers, we serve a beautifully
balanced New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc (0.05%), a bright sparkling French Chardonnay (0.5%), a delicate Marlborough rosĂ© (0.05%), and a smooth Primitivo red (0.5%) - all deliver the same character you’d expect from their full-strength counterparts.

If you prefer something more creative, our bars are stocked with a wide range of mocktails and alcohol-free spirits, including Sky Wave Zero Gin, and Smiling Wolf 0.5% Rum and Aperitivo. The 15% Quarter Proof gin also provides a nice ‘in-between’ option.

Finally, we also have some exceptional sparkling tea wine alternatives, such as REAL Royal Flush and Dry Dragon, along with the popular Botivo Botanical Aperitivo - complex, refreshing and ideal for slow sipping.

Whatever your choice and whatever your reason, you can enjoy the same great tastes of your favourite drinks at The Dinton Hermit and The Black Boy.

We’re incredibly proud to have made a recent donation of £1,058.40 to The Pace centre, thanks to the generosity of our guests and the ongoing support across both The Dinton Hermit and The Black Boy.

This contribution has been raised through a whole mix of community‑driven efforts from our Fish & Chips ‘Dish Donation’ and special charity beer ‘Pick Up The PACE’, to monthly quiz nights, along with a number of other fundraising activities throughout the year. Every pound reflects the kindness of our customers and our commitment to Being Mindful.

PACE does remarkable work supporting children with neurodisabilities, and we’re honoured to play a small part in helping them continue that mission.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this donation possible. Community matters and this is proof of what we can achieve together.

We’re proud to welcome Thatchers Cider as our new cider provider at both our venues and not just because their cider is fantastic, but because their values align so closely with our own.

Sustainability sits at the heart of what they do, and their Community Orchard Project is a brilliant example of that. As part of the initiative, Thatchers have donated apple trees which are now planted in our gardens, helping us support biodiversity, encourage wildlife and contribute to a healthier local environment. It’s a simple, meaningful way to give back to nature and it fits perfectly with our own Being Mindful pledge. We’re excited to work with a company who cares about the land as much as we do.

Next time you visit either The Dinton
Hermit in Ford or The Black Boy in Oving, take a moment to spot the new trees growing in the garden and try out Thatchers Gold or their fruit ciders at the bar.
