This is a tough post but here goes…

Hi folks, for those who have stayed at our BnB Thistle Dhu I bring some news. Andy and I are retiring from the business. Thistle Dhu which has brought much pleasure to us and delivered the very best of friends and renewed some friendships from past years is now closed. We have mixed feelings but we do share a sense of sadness
but also great pride we have been so successful and brought happiness and comfort and humour to so many people worldwide. It’s never goodbye…just see you later, much love Pat & Andy ######

A great story about a great flower …

No-one is truly sure of how the thistle came to be Scotland’s national flower. A well-known story though attributes the thistle being chosen as the emblem of Scotland to the Battle of Largs (a coastal town in Ayrshire) in the 13th century. A Norse army journeyed to Scotland, intent on conquering the land. The legend has it that they left their ships under cover of night, and were planning to ambush the sleeping Scottish Clansmen. In order to be as quiet as possible, the Norsemen had removed their shoes. However as they crept across the countryside, one of them stepped onto a thorny thistle. His cry of pain roused the Scots, and the warriors rose up and defeated the invaders.

Our local RAF Station, Lossiemouth ……. Many of our guests have enjoyed the spectacular Typhoon Eurofighter in the skies while they are out hiking the local hills. They are based just 45 minutes away and often give some ‘thunder’ in the Glen. So, this may be a great reminder
